Juneau resident Ramona Green died Dec. 5, 2009, in Juneau. She was 78.
Born June 9, 1931, in Cincinnati, to the late Jennings P. and Isabella (Perry) Green, she was an intrepid traveler throughout her life but especially as a young woman.
"She was a terrific role model for her nieces and nephews," her family said. "A retired psychologist, she was a voracious reader who freely shared her views. Her wit was a reflection of her Irish heritage. She will be remembered with love."
Her family and friends wish to thank the many people involved in caring for her and Jim in the final year of their lives, including Vikki, Heather, Kristoff, Marshall, the people (especially Bonnie B.) at Center for Community Catholic Services, and the doctors, nurses and aides at Bartlett Regional Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Urata of Juneau, nurses Leslie and Amanda, and nurse's aide Ila of Hospice and Homecare of Juneau.
"We are deeply grateful to you for smoothing the path to Ramona's final adventure," her family said.
She was preceded in death by her friend and companion, James Scoles, of Juneau.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley M. (Green) Huth; brother-in-law, William J. Huth; cousin, Phyllis Osterhage Menetrey and husband, Walt, and Betty Osterhage and her late husband, Bill; nieces and nephews, James Huth, of Cincinnati, Elaine Huth, of Forestville, Calif., Jane and Edward Weber, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Dr. Nancy and Ray Jones, of San Diego, Dr. Thomas and Mary Huth, of Richmond, Ind., Connie and Isaac Fears, of Cincinnati, and Jerry and Kate Huth, of Lafayette, Colo.; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews and six great-great-nieces and nephews, including one due any moment; and much-loved friends, Elizabeth "Leba" Shaw and husband, Roger, of Tenakee Springs and Mexico, Theresa Sullivan, of Juneau, Jean L. Conway, of Cincinnati, Patricia Burke, of Cincinnati, Jason Scoles, of Georgia, Jennifer Scoles, of San Marcos, Calif., and Jon Truelove, of Redding, Calif.
Her attorney, Vance Sanders, of Juneau, was her trusted friend and adviser.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Juneau. A gathering of the attendees, with light refreshments, will be held afterward.
A Mass of Christian burial also will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at St. William's Church in Cincinnati, with visitation at St. William's prior to the Mass, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Ralph Meyers-Deters Funeral Home in Price Hill is in charge of arrangements. Following the St. William's Mass, she will be buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Price Hill, near the parents she loved.
Donations in her honor may be made to the charity of your choice or to your local shelter for the homeless, community kitchen, or SPCA/humane society/animal rescue organization.
