Sen.'s vote hinges on military gay policy

Posted: Thursday, December 09, 2010

ANCHORAGE - U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski says it's time to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy and allow gays to serve openly in the military.

However, her vote to overturn the policy is contingent upon whether Democrats will allow debate or votes on Republican amendments to the Defense Authorization bill. The repeal is one part of the bill.

If that doesn't happen, Murkowski says she would be inclined to oppose the bill.
