FAIRBANKS - A proposed tuition increase will be considered at the upcoming meeting of the University of Alaska Board of Regents.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that university President Pat Gamble forwarded proposed increases of 7 percent for undergraduates and 3 percent for graduate students for regents to consider at the two-day meeting in Fairbanks, beginning Thursday.

Regents will also review five projects for new university facilities, including a new high-bay test module at the Fairbanks campus.

The $4.7 million project is part of a larger project at the Alaska Center for Energy and Power that will include rural energy issues, geothermal work and wind-diesel system testing.
