In the holiday season we often reflect on the past year, or perhaps the past decade. Our most recent experiences are vivid and color our personal views of the future in both positive and negative ways. In our community we have individuals who have a long-term perspective and wisdom, which can help us plan our future. Next week we have the opportunity to learn from nearly 1,000 years (maybe a little exaggerated, although many years!) of collective experience of Alaskans who have helped make Juneau, the region and the state what they are today.
The Juneau Economic Development Council is planning a community panel and discussion with Judge Thomas Stewart, Dr. Walter Soboleff, George Rogers, Jean Rogers, John Sandor, Kay Smith, Marie Olson, Katherine Shaw and Dean Williams. Clark Gruening will moderate the session.
This is a unique opportunity to gain an appreciation of issues affecting our region and community. The panel discussion and open forum, "Understanding Our Past to Design Our Future," will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14 at Centennial Hall from 7:30-9:30 p.m. At JEDC we hope this will be a fun event with dessert and coffee/tea provided.
