Region V wrestling tourney runs late

Posted: Sunday, December 10, 2000

The Region V wrestling tournament in Ketchikan ran late Saturday night and results weren't available in time to make Sunday's editions of the Juneau Empire.

A story and results of the tournament will run in Monday's sports section.

Juneau-Douglas High School had qualified eight wrestlers for Saturday night's finals, the most of any team. Ketchikan had seven finalists, with Petersburg sending six to the championship matches. Those three teams had been separated by just seven points in the team standings after Friday night's championship semifinals.

Other teams to send wrestlers to the championship round were Wrangell with three finalists, and Klawock and Sitka with two each.
