Juneau resident Richard Manly Wellman died Dec. 4, 2002, in Juneau.
He was born May 17, 1953, in San Mateo, Calif., to Lewis Cyrenus Wellman and Julia Alphonsine Chinn. He worked in the computer industry as a warehouseman and laborer. He worked at Icicle Seafoods from June to September 2001 in Petersburg. He moved to Juneau in April 2002.
His "adopted family" at Gastineau Human Services said he will be remembered "for his wacky sense of humor as well as his great jokes. He brought to the attention of many individuals the seriousness of addiction and its consequences."
He is survived by his son, William "Billy" Wellman, and his ex-wife, Maralee Wellman, both of Foster City, Calif.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Flinders, Rick Berondowski, Michael Rowcroft and John Vercessi.
Services will be held at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the chapel on the campus of Gastineau Human Services.
