JUNEAU - The 2009 holiday open house at the Governor's Mansion had a record turnout Tuesday night with an attendance of 4,114 people, according to the Gov. Sean Parnell's office.
The previous record was set last year when 3,304 people attended the open house while former Gov. Sarah Palin was in office.
The annual open house is a long-standing tradition in the capital since the executive residence was built in 1912. The first holiday open house was held in 1913.
Tuesday's open house was the 97th year the community event has been held. It has been held every year since the mansion was built, with the exception of two years during World War II.
