Posted: Friday, December 10, 2010

ANCHORAGE - Anchorage residents will be able to set off fireworks this New Year's without worrying about the law.

The Anchorage Assembly approved an ordinance allowing the use of fireworks within city limits during the holiday.

People will be able to set off fireworks from 9:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 1 a.m. on New Year's Day. There are several restrictions on where residents will be allowed to set off fireworks, including the downtown area.

The law will be in effect for two years and must then be re-approved by the Assembly.
