Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


About 2:45 p.m. Sunday, a woman, 32, was arrested at Alaska Laundry for city assault. She was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Thefts, lost and found property:

About 2 p.m. Saturday, a boys' silver and gray bike was found in the ditch of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive.

About 10:30 a.m. Sunday, a man, 59, reported about three dozen bulbs were removed from a Christmas light display outside his home on Fritz Cove Road.

About 12:30 p.m. Sunday, a girl, 14, was arrested for shoplifting on Front Street. She was released to her mother.

About 1:30 p.m. Sunday, a boy, 15, was arrested at SuperBear for shoplifting and released to his parents.

About 6:45 p.m. Sunday, a woman, 25, reported the theft of her Mongoose men's mountain bike from Postal Way. The bike, which was unlocked, is valued at $120.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, a woman, 47, reported the theft of a 4-foot snowman figure valued at $50 from her yard on Riverside Drive.


Capital City Fire & Rescue responded about 4:08 a.m. today to a car fire at mile 5 1/2 of Thane Road. The vehicle was fully ablaze but unoccupied when firefighters arrived. "We were unable to determine virtually anything about it at this point," said Lt. Lynn Riedle. Because arson may have been the cause of the fire, the Juneau Police Department is investigating.

Vehicle accidents:

About 3 p.m. Saturday, a man, 41, was cited for operating his vehicle at an improper speed after causing $5,000 damage to his Mazda pickup on Glacier Highway.

Hit-and-run incidents:

About 3 a.m. today, a man, 26, reported to JPD that his vehicle had been hit and run some time within the last hour on Northwood Drive. About $800 to $1,000 in damage was sustained on the driver's side. Paint transfers were deposited.

Animal encounters:

About 3:30 a.m. today, police received a report of a bear on Mendenhall Loop Road.

Warrant arrests:

About 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a man, 43, was arrested in the Mendenhall Valley on an outstanding JPD warrant citing noncompliance with Gastineau Human Services. He was transported to state prison.

About 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a man, 20, was arrested on Egan Drive inbound on an outstanding troopers warrant for failure to appear, pay surcharges and complete work service.


On Thursday, the Southeast Alaska Narcotics Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a Wrangell residence after receiving information about a suspicious package headed by air to Wrangell. Evidence of methamphetamine distribution was seized as were 30 grams of methamphetamine. Investigation continues.

Underage drinking:

About 4 a.m. Sunday, police issued two men, 17 and 19, citations for minor consuming in the Mendenhall Valley.
