Allow smokers freedom to choose

Letter to the editor

Posted: Thursday, December 11, 2003

This a letter in response to the letter from Bob Cita re: "Smoking ordinance a necessary protection."

Yet another "citizen" trying to force their personal beliefs down everyone's throat and control society to fit in their little box.

I do not smoke, but I do believe in everyone's option to go where they choose and not go where they don't. If you don't want to smoke or be near it, then it's simple - don't go where there is smoke. How hard is that?

If Mr. Cita's issue is the ability to go to a bar and drive home drunk - endangering everyone else - and yet not have to inhale smoke, then maybe he should find a bar that is smoke-free.

I choose to let Mr. Cita go where he chooses and I shall do the same. I won't force the fact that I neither smoke nor drink down his throat if he could possibly give me and others the same consideration.
