JUNEAU - The Juneau Audubon Society will host this year's Juneau Christmas Bird Count Dec. 19.
As in past years, volunteers should meet at either the downtown or valley McDonald's locations at 8 a.m. on the day of the event. Participants should arrive dressed for the weather and bring binoculars. Those interested in counting in the downtown, Douglas and North Douglas area should meet at the downtown McDonald's. Birders wishing to work near Lemon Creek, the airport, Mendenhall Valley or in the Auke Bay area should meet at the valley McDonald's.
A potluck will be held at the end of the event to conduct a tally of the birds and species seen.
