Free legal workshop offered

The Alaska Pro Bono Program is offering a free legal workshop designed to instruct laymen on how to represent themselves in court in a divorce and/or custody matter.

The workshop is scheduled from 6-8 p.m., Dec. 13, in the Miller Room, Centennial Hall, 101 Egan Drive. It is open to the general public as well as to social service agents and legal advocates.

Relay for Life meeting set

Have you been affected by cancer? The truth is, all of us have been or will be at some point in our lives. The American Cancer Society needs volunteers who are interested in fighting cancer in the Juneau area. The Relay For Life is a 24-hour community event that raises awareness about cancer, cancer prevention, advocacy issues, education and patient services. Please join us for an informational meeting on Dec. 19 at the Juneau Public Library conference room at 6 p.m. to learn more about the Relay For Life and how you can do your part in the fight against cancer! Fund set up for fire victim

On Dec. 5, 2001, Joe Harris, a long-time Juneau resident and musician, lost everything to a trailer fire. In addition to playing with the Boneheads/Swingers, Joe is a maintenance man for Eaglewood, Ravenwood and Gruening Park Apartments. He previously worked at Coho and Chinook Apartments.

A fund has been set up at the Wells Fargo Bank to benefit Harris. Donations will be greatly appreciated.
