Local author publishes new book
A book by local author Ann Chandonnet will be on the shelves soon. Titled "A History of Alaskan Totem Poles," the 32-page, full-color, large format paperback is being published by John Hinde Curteich Inc. of Camarillo, Calif. It was developed by Curteich in cooperation with Arctic Circle Enterprises of Anchorage, and will be distributed by Arctic Circle. A former reporter with the Empire, Chandonnet is a 30-year resident of Alaska. She is the author of more than a dozen books including "Canoeing in the Rain" and "Alaska's Arts, Crafts & Collectibles."
Senior dinner to be held Dec. 14
The annual Juneau Senior Citizen's Holiday Dinner will be held on Dec. 14 at the ANB Hall. Entertainment will begin at 4 p.m., and dinner will be served promptly at 5 p.m. Senior citizens (and their caregiver, if needed) are asked to attend. Care-A-Van will once again be available for transportation. Call 463-6194 at least a day before to reserve transportation to the dinner.
Strategy 5 to hold meeting Dec. 15
Strategy 5 will meet at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 at the central office. The group promotes effective communication and connections with families, the community and businesses and build partnerships to increase resources available for education in Juneau.
