... from the symphony

Thank you letter

Posted: Friday, December 12, 2003

The Juneau Symphony musicians, chorus members and board would like to thank everyone who attended the performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 last month. We had a full house on Saturday and almost a full house on Sunday.

Special thanks to the following individuals, businesses and organizations for their support in making this performance such a success: concert sponsor BP; soloists sponsor Holland America Line Inc.; Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium manager Lucas Hoiland and his trusty assistants for their invaluable technical help; Lucas Hoiland and Toby Clark for the wonderful stage extension; Albert McDonnell of Skatebottom Sound for recording both performances; Holland America Line Inc. and Kris Ritter for providing transportation for our visiting musicians; Hearthside Books for selling advance tickets; KTOO for broadcasting our concert live; KATH-TV for televising the concert on "Juneau Spotlight"; and the Juneau Empire for its continued support of our Concert Conversations series; House manager Larry White and the large corps of dedicated symphony volunteers for all their concert-production help; Todd Hunt and Lorrie Heagy for their work with the chorus; Chorus member Bruce Simonson for help with lights and setting up the choral risers and seats; symphony musician Steve Tada for making the arrangements for visiting musicians Leo and Llewellyn Lutchansky for the reception; Juneau's Jesuit Volunteers who helped clean up after the concert; Judy Knight and Charity Green for organizing the silent auction; and all the contributors and bidders in the auction.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this concert such a success! And mark your calendars now for our winter concert at 8 p.m., Jan. 31, 2004 at the JDHS auditorium. The concert will feature two of the symphony's principal brass players and the winner of the symphony's Youth Concerto Competition. At the concert, you also will get the chance to purchase a CD recording of the Juneau Symphony performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.

See you at the Symphony!
