Tony Martin, head of the University of Alaska Southeast automotive technology department, speaks Monday with UAS Chancellor John Pugh about the program's new 2006 Honda Accord and 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T at the university's Technical Education Center. The UAS Automotive Technology program is the state winner and national runner-up of the Automotive Industry Planning Council Award of Excellence for post-secondary programs. Martin accepted the award Nov. 29 at the Association for Career and Technical Education Convention in Atlanta. The program was awarded the vehicles in recognition of its achievement. The new cars will serve as state-of-the-art teaching aides.
