Church conference this weekend
A Prophetic Winter Conference is scheduled Friday through Sunday at Restoration Grace Outreach Center at 5636 Glacier Highway.
Guest speakers include national speakers Danny Fisher, Mike Monger and Rich Massiatt. The sessions are at 7 p.m. Friday, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Child care will be provided at evening and Sunday services. A lunch will be served following the Sunday morning service for a suggested donation of $5.

Wetlands mitigation discussed
A discussion on the establishment of a CBJ Wetlands Mitigation Program will be presented by Sylvia Kreel, a planner for the city, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School library.
The discussion, hosted by the Juneau Audubon Society, will focus on dealing with impacts caused by development and include slides from previous projects.
An open showing of slides by participants and refreshments will follow the discussion.

Flights offer view of Christmas lights
Coastal Helicopters will offer Christmas flights to benefit Alaska kids with Neuro-fibro-matosis from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the north wing of the Juneau Airport.
The price of the 10-minute ride is a $25 donation, with passengers accepted on a first-come first-served basis. If the weather is poor, an attempt to offer rides Sunday will be made. For more information call 789-4419.
Santa to get ride from firefighters Friday
The Juneau-Douglas Volunteer Firefighters will offer Santa a ride through downtown Juneau and Douglas starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
The procession will leave the Mount Roberts Tram and proceed down Franklin Street to 6th Street, to Calhoun, to 12th Street, to Glacier Avenue, to Behrends, back to Glacier Avenue and reach Cedar Park at 7:30 p.m. They will continue through Douglas on 4th Street, to B Street, to 3rd Street, to H Street, to D Street and back to 3rd Street.
Humane Society sponsors gift tree
The Gastineau Humane Society is sponsoring a holiday tree at the Nugget Mall, with proceeds helping the animal shelter.
Donars will be part of a drawing for a cat or dog stocking. There is also a free drawing for a 50 percent discount on a spay neuter certificate. The tree will be staffed from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 16 and 23.
Church adds service
Resurrection Lutheran Church has added a second service at 11 a.m. to its Sunday schedule. It is a contemporary service using multimedia resources with a variety of music, musical instruments and a leadership team.
Also this month, Christmas Eve services will be at 5 p.m. and again at 11 p.m. A half hour of Christmas music and carols will precede the 11 p.m. service. The Christmas Day service will be at 12 noon.
