Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


State troopers are investigating a reported assault by a male inmate, 41, against a corrections officer Tuesday at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


A reddish brown leather wallet containing $10, various cards and blank checks was reported stolen about 9 a.m. Tuesday at the downtown Juneau Racquet Club.

A man, 36, was cited for larceny and released after Alaskan and Proud Market reported a shoplifter in custody about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Animal encounters:

A bear was trying to get into garbage about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on River Road.


A dark metallic blue bicycle was turned in to the police for safekeeping about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday from the Mendenhall Mall.

A citizen turned in a car stereo found Tuesday near the State Office Building.

Juneau Crime Line Inc. is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or people responsible for a theft at a business near Industrial Boulevard about July 27, 2000. Stolen were several items of horse tack valued at about $900.
