Juneau-Douglas High School basketball: Intersquad games, girls varsity 6 p.m., boys varsity 7:30 p.m., both at Juneau-Douglas High School gym.


Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool special morning swims: Special morning swims will be held from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21; Tuesday, Dec. 26; and Thursday, Dec. 28, during the school district's holiday break. Info: Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool, 586-5325.

Juneau Parks and Recreation mini's swimming program: Meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, at Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool. This program is for children ages 5-7 who are able to demonstrate at least advanced preschool or Level II beginning swimming skils. Mighty Mite youth ski team registration: Registration is open for this winter's Mighty Mite ski team program for skiers ages 6-12 years old. The lessons at Eaglecrest Ski School focus on skier technique and introduce the children to racing. The 10-week program features Saturday lessons from 9:30 a.m. until noon starting on Jan. 8, and includes four optional race days. The cost is $105 for the lessons, plus $25 for a United States Ski Association membership and $20 per family for Juneau Ski Club membership. Juneau Parks and Recreation youth indoor soccer: Coaches are needed for the 2001 Youth Indoor Soccer League, which begins in early January and continues through mid-March. Each team receives three preseason practices, plus one practice and one Saturday game each week during the season. Game and practice schedules vary depending on the division. Coaching opportunities are available in nearly every division, age 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-17. Avalanche awareness classes: Upcoming avalanche awareness classes from the Southeast Alaska Avalanche Center are Juneau Level I, Dec. 26-29 and Jan. 12-15; Juneau Level II, March 2-5; and Juneau Snowmachine, Jan. 5 classroom and Jan. 6-7 in the field. Open Gyms

Youth open gyms: Saturdays (12/16) from 8-11 p.m. at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, and Fridays (12/15) from 8-11 p.m. at Floyd Dryden Middle School. No cost for students grades 5-12. Adult volleyball/basketball open gyms, at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School: Cost is $4. Sundays (12/10) and Fridays (next one is 12/15, 12/8 is cancelled), from 7-9 p.m. Also on Mondays (12/11) from 8-10 p.m. Volleyball/basketball court rentals available Saturday mornings.
