Company appoints Corbus as director
Sound off on the important issues at
Juneau - William Corbus, a longtime Juneau businessman, will join the Alaska Pacific Bancshares board of directors in January, according to President and CEO Craig E. Dahl.
Corbus filled the position vacated by Deborah Marshall, who retired from the board after serving for 17 years.
Corbus has served as a member for B.M. Behrends board in Juneau, Key Bank of Alaska and First National Bank of Anchorage. He was a trustee for the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. from 2002 to 2006, a trustee for the Alaska Retirement Management Board for 10 years, and a director for the Alaska Power & Telephone Co. for four years.
In April, Corbus was named president and director of the Alaska Energy and Resources Co., a position he also held from 1988 to 2002. AERC is the parent of Alaska Electric Light & Power Co., and Corbus is chairman and director of that company. He served as commissioner of the Department of Revenue from 2002 to 2006.
Huston opens new child care center
JUNEAU - Kathy Huston has opened a new home-based child care center on Thane Road. Huston is a certified teacher and has more than a decade of educational experience.
The center is fully licensed by the state and is an approved home with Catholic Community Services and Tlingit and Haida Head Start.
