Former JDHS coach Hamey indicted Friday

JUNEAU - A grand jury on Friday indicted longtime Juneau-Douglas High School basketball coach James M. Hamey on one count of felony sexual assault.

Hamey, 62, was arrested Dec. 4 for allegedly sexually assaulting a 50-year-old woman in the 2800 block of Postal Way on Dec. 1.

Hamey was released from the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on $5,000 bail on Dec. 8.

Hamey was the coach of the JDHS boys basketball team for 22 years and the girls basketball team for 8 years.
