The Coast Guard rescued an overdue hunter off Lincoln Island while assisting in a search with Alaska State Troopers 15 miles northwest of Juneau at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a release from the Coast Guard.

Tommy Jimmy Jr. was reported overdue after two of his friends alerted the crew on a 25-foot response boat from Station Juneau while on patrol at 4:50 p.m.

The Coast Guard launched a helicopter crew form Air Station Sitka and a 47-foot motor lifeboat with personnel from Juneau Mountain Rescue at 6:30 p.m.

The helicopter crew arrived in the area of Lincoln Island and saw a flashing light. The flashing light was confirmed to be Jimmy by a rescue swimmer lowered from the rescue helicopter.

The rescue helicopter crew hoisted Jimmy and transported him to emergency medical personnel at the Juneau International Airport, who then transported him to Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau at 9 p.m.

The response boat towed the hunters' vessel to Juneau Saturday evening.
