Student art exhibit opens Friday

The artwork of 10 high school students will be featured at an exhibit this weekend at the JuneauDouglas City Museum. The show opens with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.

The Second Annual JuneauDouglas High School Art Show will include drawings, paintings, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics. The students, from the art classes of Jan Neimeyer and Tom Manning, range from freshmen to seniors in advanced classes. Students include Paul Voelckers, Kylie Manning, Owen Miller, Stacy Montag, Reid Harris, Brianne Mecum, Jessica Rehfield, Nicole Monroe, Robin Barnes and Margeaux DeRoux.

The reception is free. The show will run through Jan. 27. On Jan. 6, some of the students will return to the museum for an afternoon to demonstrate various art activities.

Monkey, lamb, lap dog wanted for play

Perseverance Theatre is looking for a small, tame monkey for a part in the upcoming production, "Gypsy." A baby lamb and a small dog are also needed.

The animals are needed for rehearsals in January and performances Jan. 14 through Feb. 18. Contact Susan Wilder at 364-2421, ext. 26, if you have a lead on these critters.
