Hello, all you wonderful people. I am so glad to be here in Southeast, enjoying the fresh air, beautiful scenery and good people.

It occurred to me this morning that I had never really thought about the fact that we all have one thing that unifies us all. Yes, I know, as individuals, we are surprisingly different in so many ways, but one thing that isn't different about all of us is that we are all alive. We have all been alive for some time now. You are alive and so am I, and everyone around you is too. Whether you only have a short time to live or have another 80 years or so, you will be alive that whole time.
And we are all alive together. Have you noticed that the people you live with, work with, see here and there are actually alive? I think this is a good time of year to think about that. What is so very obvious is also amazing. I know I have been caught up in everyday events and situations, busy with getting this or that done only to move on to the next thing. I love being productive. But somewhere along the line, I forgot to notice that the people around me are also united to me because they are alive as well.
And we are in this life together. We are all living at the same time and near the same place as it turns out. I likely don't know you personally, may never actually speak to you, or even cross your path. But you are alive with me at this time right here in Southeast Alaska. We get to live, and we are living right here together.
I ask you to take a moment and know that the people you meet today are alive with you. Spend a moment of your life considering what that means to you, and to them. We really are together on this. I am going to try to remember that.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
