JUNEAU - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium announces physician Steven O. Greer has joined the medical staff at the SEARHC Juneau Medical Center.

Greer, who specializes in family medicine, comes to Juneau after 18 years working for a multispecialty group practice in Bend and Sisters, Ore. Before that he worked in private practice in Red Bluff, Calif., and in emergency medicine in Redding, Calif. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
"It has been a pleasure working in an organization that is committed to a mission of caring for people," Greer said of his move to SEARHC. He said he always wanted to work in Alaska.
Greer earned his medical degree from the University of California San Diego, and he completed a residency in family medicine with the University of California Davis Shasta Cascade Family Medicine Residency Program. He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in microbiology and chemistry. While at the University of California San Diego, Greer won the Reithmeyer Award for excellence in undergraduate family medicine.
Greer's medical interests include full-spectrum family medicine, occupational medicine and medical research. He also enjoys the beautiful outdoors: fishing, skiing, hiking, running, kayaking, western horse riding (when he lived in Oregon), spending time with his wife and four grown children, and Rotary Club activities.
