FAIRBANKS - The 140 soldiers of a military police company at Fort Wainwright are heading to Iraq next month for a yearlong mission to support local security forces.

A deployment ceremony was held Thursday for the 472nd Military Police Company. The soldiers will have several weeks of leave for the holidays before shipping out.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports many veterans of the 472nd have gone on to jobs in Alaska law enforcement after leaving the Army.
