Former longtime Juneau resident Frankie Zona Stauffer, 93, died Dec. 6, 2004, in Centralia, Wash.
She was born June 28, 1911, in Baggs, Wyo., to Ed and Leone Neal. Her father wanted a boy so they named her Frankie. The family (Frankie, Stan, Karen, Wayne and Mary Lee) drove the Alcan, arriving in Juneau on May 4, 1960. She resided in Juneau until 1982, when she moved to Kennewick, Wash. She was an active bowler and a volunteer for many senior projects. She loved the big band dances at the Pasco Senior Center.
She was a 22-year member of the Eagles. She worked as an Information Operator for JD Telephone.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Stauffer; and daughters, Karen Jensen, Mary Jordan, Jean Eisenhauer and Shirley Calhoun.
A funeral will be held on Dec. 18, 2004, at Central Lutheran in Morton, Wash. There will also be a dance in her memory on Dec. 15.
