Ketchikan, Juneau Christian School win tournament titles

Ketchikan teams won three of the four titles at last weekend's Rebounders/Fast Break middle school basketball tournament in Juneau.

First City teams swept the boys crowns - winning the A and B brackets - and also claimed the girls A bracket title. Juneau Christian School prevented a clean sweep, taking the girls B bracket title as Ketchikan finished second.

JCS player Corey Mulder was named the most valuable player of the girls B bracket, while Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School's Hannah Massey won the bracket's top defense award and Skagway won the team sportsmanship award.

Other bracket award winners included:

• Boys A bracket - MVP: Albert Pahang, Ketchikan. Defense: Kyle Wales, Floyd Dryden Middle School. Team sportsmanship: Sitka.

• Boys B bracket - MVP: Hugh Fleury, Ketchikan. Defense: Trent Headley, Ketchikan. Team sportsmanship: Floyd Dryden.

• Girls A bracket - MVP: Kalli Kline, Ketchikan. Defense: Leisha Trani, Sitka. Team sportsmanship: Floyd Dryden.

In addition to teams from the three Juneau schools, Ketchikan and Sitka, this year's tournament included squads from Haines, Skagway and Yakutat.

Second place: Sitka.

Third place: Dzantik'i Heeni.
