Cluster bombs

Posted: Tuesday, December 16, 2008

I am traveling in Asia, and I just saw an article on the BBC that children in Laos are still being killed and injured by ordinance that we dropped there in the Vietnam War.

I also was excited to see that there was an international agreement that most of the countries in the world would discontinue the use of cluster bombs. To my horror, the story went on to say that the three biggest stockpilers of these bombs had not signed off - including the United States!

I hope the new leadership of our country will reconsider this position.
