JUNEAU - City officials announced Monday afternoon an air emergency in effect for the Mendenhall Valley, banning woodstove burning until further notice.
Pellet stoves are exempt from the wood stove restrictions and can burn at any time.
Heather Marlow, the city's lands and resources manager, said a weather system is inbound that's likely to clear the air and lift the emergency today.
