City looks to expand library mail program

Posted: Tuesday, December 16, 2008

FAIRBANKS - The Fairbanks North Star Borough is hoping to expand its Library By Mail program.

The library will ship books, music, videos and other materials to library account-holders who live in more rural areas.

The Library By Mail Program covers people who live 25 miles from a library or people whose schedules make it tough to get to a library.

The program has drawn a handful of patrons, but between one-tenth and one-quarter of the borough's 100,000 residents likely are eligible for Library By Mail service.
