Former Juneau resident Mary Ann (Farhenkopf) Barrett died Nov. 2, 2002. She was 78.
She was born in Anacortes, Wash., and lived most of her life in the Pacific Northwest. She was raised during the Depression on a farm in Monroe, Wash. She and her only sibling, George Farhenkopf, were lifelong best friends.
She and her husband Don lived in Juneau from 1974 to 1984, where they refurbished a small cabin on North Douglas, just down the road from their son Tim. She was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and had many friends there. Her family said she wanted to acknowledge her ties to friends in Juneau and that enjoyable period of her life.
She was preceded in death by her son Donny Barrett.
She is survived by her children Gail Nadeau of Seattle, Wash., Mary Curtis of Sacramento, Calif., Sally Bollinger of Ellensburg, Wash., Irene Skyriver of Lopez Island, Wash., and Tim Barrett of Yakima, Wash., 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with two more due soon.
