Student recognition

Student Recognition for Juneau-Douglas High School students will be today at noon in the high school library. Students will receive certificates and letters of commendation from Juneau's legislators. The Student Recognition Program recognizes young people at the high school level who might not otherwise be "given a nod" for a job well done. With assistance from the administrators and staff at JDHS, the program was begun in 1989 by interested parents. The nominees are generally recognized for accomplishments within the school setting and are nominated by teachers and staff. The University of Alaska Southeast also awards a scholarship to one of the students in a May ceremony.

The children will be delivering these holiday gifts to the Glory Hole at 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 18.
