Student recognition for December
Student Recognition for Juneau-Douglas High School students will be at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the high school library. Ken Koelsch, recently recognized as Juneau's "Citizen of the Year" by the Juneau Chamber of Commerce, will be the presenter.
Students will receive certificates and letters of commendation from Juneau's legislators.
The Student Recognition Program recognizes young people at the high school who might not otherwise be recognized for a job well done. It was begun in 1989 by interested parents with assistance from the administrators and staff at JDHS. The nominees are generally recognized for accomplishments within the school setting and are nominated by teachers and staff. University of Alaska Southeast awards a scholarship to one of the students in a May ceremony.
