Alaska Natives sell moccasins on the steamship dock downtown in front of the Princess Kathleen sometime in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The Princess Kathleen was built in 1925 and ran between Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, for many years. It also served in the Mediterranean theater during World War II. The ship sank in 1952 after running aground off Lena Point, 18 miles north of downtown. All 387 people aboard were rescued.
