2005 waterfowl season ends

JUNEAU - The Alaska Department of Fish and Game reminds waterfowl hunters that their season ended at 3:06 p.m. Friday.

Hunters on the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge must return a permit report card issued to them when they received the permit. The cards are due no later than Dec. 31.

Those who fail to return the report card or contact the Douglas field office to report, will not be eligible for 2006 permit hunts for any species in Alaska. They may also be cited by the Alaska Bureau of Wildlife Enforcement. Call the Douglas field office with questions at 465-4265.

2005 park decals extended to Jan. 15

Due to a printing delay, the 2006 day-use parking decals are not yet available. The decals are expected to be available the latter part of next week. Because of this delay, the Alaska Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation will extend the validity of the 2005 day-use passes until Jan. 15.

Annual day-use parking decals are $40. A pass for a second vehicle in the same household can be purchased for an additional $20. The decal allows people to park in the day-use areas without paying a fee. It also allows people who back-country camp to park in the day-use parking lots for multiple days without having to pay additional fees. Day-use fees are $1 to $5 per day.
