Dec. 16-31

• Holiday Cup 2006 - The Holiday Cup Competitive Indoor Soccer Tournament will be held Dec. 16-31. There are five coed divisions - grades 4-5, middle school, high school ages 16 and under, ages 17-20 and masters division for ages 21 and over. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 22-23

• Juneau-Douglas High School hockey - The Juneau-Douglas High School hockey team (6-4) will host two games with Su Valley on Friday and Saturday at Treadwell Arena. Friday's game starts at 8 p.m. while Saturday's faceoff is set for 7 p.m.

Wednesday-Saturday, Dec. 27-30

• Capital City Classic - The Juneau-Douglas High School boys and girls basketball teams host the annual Capital City Classic. The boys will take on A.B. Miller and Porter Creek while the girls will face Palmer and Troy. The boys and girls Spokane NBC Thunder all-star teams will also compete. The JDHS girls play at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday while the boys take the court at 8 p.m. on Wednesady, Thursday and Saturday.

Tuesday-Sunday, Dec. 26-31

• Juneau Ski Club Alpine Race Coca-Cola Classic - Eaglecrest Ski Area will host the Juneau Ski Club Alpine Race Coca-Cola Classic. There will be two slalom and two giant slalom races.



• Tornados Youth Wrestling Club registration - The Juneau Tornados Youth Wrestling Club registration is now though Feb. 28. Tornados wrestling is for boys and girls ages 5-18 interested in learning wrestling skills. Practice for ages 5-12 will begin Jan. 8. Wrestlers 13-and-older should contact coach Bob Koenitzer for times. Practices will be Monday-Wednesday 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. for ages 5-12 and 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. for older wrestlers. • Juneau Youth Hockey second season - Juneau Douglas Ice Association youth hockey is opening registration for the second season. The season runs from January to March for the following ages: Mites, 5-8 years old (birth years 1998-2002) and intro to hockey, 4-and-older who are first time players. • Eaglecrest Ski Area events - Eaglecrest Ski Area will host a number of events in December for skiers and snowboarders.

Dec. 8-20, Eaglecrest will host the Winter Solstice Salvation Army Toy Drive. Please drop an unwrapped toy in the bin in the rental shop, receive a free hot drink and enter to win a stocking stuffer on Dec. 21.

Dec. 19-22, Eaglecrest will host the first Holiday Ski/Snowboard Camp for all ages and abilities.

Dec. 24 is the annual Christmas Eve celebration. There will be ornament making at 3:30 p.m. Apres ski cookies at 4 p.m., holiday music with Rick Trostel's youth and Ann Boochever at 4:30 p.m., an adult torchlight parade down Hooter Slopes at 5:15 p.m., a kids torchlight on Platter at 5:45 p.m. and then Santa Claus arrives on a sleigh to give everyone toys at 6 p.m. You can register each child for a gift with Santa's Eaglecrest Elves at 790-2000 x211.

Dec. 26-29, Eaglecrest will host the second Holiday Ski/Snowboard Camp for all ages and abilities.

• Juneau Golf Club Alaska Open 2007 - The Juneau Golf Club will hold the Alaska Open 2007 on March 6-9 at Francisco Grande Resort in Casa Grande, Ariz. Four day/three night packages and week-long packages are available. Info: Steven or Cindy Schlaffman, 360-452-7955.

• Co-ed Master's Indoor Soccer Sunday - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer Sundays is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. Games take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays at Floyd Dryden. Info: or Moctar Diouf, 586-3256,

• Start Smart Basketball Program - The Start Smart Basketball Program is for boys and girls ages 4-5. The sessions will be held weekly at a valley site from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning the week of Jan. 15. Fee is $25 and each child will receive a t-shirt, workbook and participant manual. • Mt. Jumbo Gym Preschool Open Gym - The Mt. Jumbo Preschool Open Gym is open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon for all children ages 1-6. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at a maximum ration of four children to one adult. Play equipment and tumbling mats are provided. There is a $1 per child cost for the program. Punchcards are available at the gym or the Juneau Parks and Recreation office. Cash or chek payment can be made at the gym - no bills over $20 please. Info: 586-5226,

• Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost to rent the court is $20 per hour, which must be paid at the time of rental. This is for adult activities only. Info: Juneau Community Schools, 463-1717.
