Alaskan Dames win Women's B championship

Val Martinez made 16 saves as Alaskan Dames claimed the Juneau Adult Hockey Association Women's B championship Sunday with a 3-0 win over the Green.

Kristin Bartlett scored in the first period while Elise Augustson and Julie Hamilton scored in the third period for Alaskan Dames.

Karn Hickok added two assists and Hamilton had one assist in the win.

For the Green team, Dorothy Hernandez made six saves in defeat.

Tier A

Grey 4, Ice Pirates 2

The Grey team scored a pair of second-period goals to beat the Ice Pirates on Sunday and claim the Tier A title.

Nate Haddock, Mike Farrell, T.J. Preston and Trevor Lyden all scored in the win. Joran Freeman had two assists while Brian Van Kirk, Farrell and Lyden chipped in one assist each.

Grey goaltender Jerry Nankervis stopped 20 of 22 shots in the win.

For the Ice Pirates, Brian Drew scored both goals. Each goal came off assists by Aaron Jacobs.

Ben White turned back 19 shots for the Ice Pirates.

Women's A

Red 2, Grey 1

Two first-period goals proved all the Red team needed to win the Women's A title Sunday.

Jana Linfield scored both goals for the Red team while Rissa Florendo added an assist.

Red goaltender Jodie Pessolano stopped 20 of 21 shots to secure the championship.

Just 35 seconds after Linfield's second goal, the Grey's Christy Baseden tallied an unassisted goal to cut the Red team's lead to 2-1.

Grey goaltender Gene Cheeseman made 15 saves.

Tier B

Bleu Chunks 4, Capital Embroidery 3

Scott Petsel's second goal of the game turned out to be the game winner as the Blue Chunks upended Capital Embroidery on Sunday in a back-and-forth Tier B title game.

Bleu Chunks took a 2-1 lead in the first period as Dawn Momblow and Petsel scored. William Holbrook assisted on Momblow's goal.

Drew Pawlik kept Capital Embroidery close with a first-period goal off assists by Dave Blaisdell and Cecile Elliott.

The one-goal difference proved huge for the Bleu Chunks as the two teams exchanged goals in the second and third periods.

Thomas Schwartz scored for the Bleu Chunks, Greg Beck had two assists and Schwartz contributed one assist in the win.

Jeff Goetz stopped 22 shots for the win.

Capital Embroidery's Matt McGuan and Jason Hafner had goals while James Langel, Pawlik and Elliott recorded assists in defeat.

Darryl Tseu made 11 saves for Capital Embroidery.

Tier C

Air Excursions 2, CCFR 1

Gregory Cazemier scored with 3:36 left in the game to break a 1-1 tie and lift Air Excursions to the Tier C championship on Sunday.

Cazemier tied the game at 1-1 late in the second period. Jeff Goetz assisted each of Cazemier's goals.

Matt Dubois gave Capital City Fire and Rescue a 1-0 lead with 15:05 left in the second period off a Barney Schneider assist.

Darryl Tseu made 19 saves for Air Excursions while CCFR goaltender Jason McAdoo turned back 21 of 23 shots.
