Tickets are now on sale for the Juneau Statehood Ball to be held on Jan. 3 at Centennial Hall.
To celebrate the 50th year of Alaska Statehood, Capital City Celebrations will present The Diamonds, performing their timeless doo-wop hits from the 1950s and '60s like "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" "Silhouettes," "The Stroll" and "Little Darlin'." In addition, The Diamonds will pay tribute to the classic four-part harmony vocal groups of the era and the great solo artists of the time.
The party, prepared by a volunteer committee with the aid of local organizations and merchants, will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3. The musical evening will include statehood displays, prizes, a silent auction, dancing, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
Attendees are encouraged to wear formal attire - 1950s-inspired outfits are especially welcome. Tickets for the Statehood Ball are $50 and available at Hearthside Books or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
