KLAWOCK - A crash outside the Prince of Wales Island community of Klawock killed the driver of a sport utility vehicle.

Alaska State Troopers say the man was driving north Tuesday afternoon near Mile 8 Boundary Road and tried to pass another vehicle. The victim lost control of his SUV and it hit the ditch and turned over. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The man was rushed to the Alicia Roberts Medical Clinic but could not be saved.

Klawock is a community of about 750 located 7 miles north of Craig and 56 miles west of Ketchikan.
