Holland America hires Shively as spokesman
John Shively is Holland America Line's new public face in Alaska.
The former state natural resources commissioner has been hired as vice president of government affairs and community relations at Holland America, one of Alaska's biggest tourism companies.
He replaces longtime Holland America executive Al Parrish, who left to run Providence Health System of Alaska.
Shively, 58, is a longtime player in Alaska politics but most recently has been senior partner of Jade North, a natural resource consulting firm.
Before that, Shively held the top job at the Department of Natural Resources under former Gov. Tony Knowles for six years.
Shively was chief operating officer for NANA Development Corp., a subsidiary of a regional Native corporation.
Alaska hotel association names new directors
The Alaska Hotel and Lodging Association, a nonprofit trade association representing more than 80 percent of the lodging rooms in Alaska, has announced its 2002-03 directors.
Members of the executive committee are: Jeff Butcher of Haines, chairman; Frank Rose of Fairbanks, president; Jack Reiss of Anchorage, vice president; Jon Faulkner of the Kenai Peninsula, secretary/treasurer.
Regional directors are: Chris von Imhof, at-large; Brad Snowden, Kenai Peninsula district; Jeannette Duenow, Southcentral district; Sharlene Berg, at-large; Patty Fitzpatrick, Southcentral district; Jane Greenwood, Kodiak, Bristol Bay and Aleutians district; and Susan Motter, Far North/Interior district.
Northland Services changes address
Northland Services, a marine shipping company based in Seattle, has a new delivery address for shipments to go on to Juneau, Wrangell, Skagway, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Sitka and Haines.
Freight for those communities will be received at Terminal 115, 6700 West Marginal Way SW, Seattle, WA, 98106.
