Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Driving while intoxicated:
Steven Merculief, 38, was arrested for drunken driving, failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test at 12:40 a.m. this morning on Lemon Creek Road. Merculief was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on $1,000 bail, and the vehicle was impounded.
Thefts:
At 10:56 p.m. Wednesday, a woman reported a case containing 30 CDs and a gym bag were stolen from her unlocked car in the Fred Meyer parking lot. The items were valued at $400.
Drugs:
At 12:52 p.m. Wednesday, a 15-year-old boy was arrested for possession of marijuana on Glacier Avenue and transported to Johnson Youth Center.
Vehicle accidents:
At 10 p.m. Wednesday, a 21-year-old woman reported to police she had run her 1997 Plymouth into a light pole in the Kmart parking lot. The vehicle sustained about $500 damage but was able to be driven from the scene. The light pole was undamaged.
Hit-and-run incidents:
At 6:04 p.m. Wednesday, a girl reported her 1991 Plymouth was struck while parked in the State Office Building parking lot. The car sustained damage to the rear passenger side and bumper.
Animal encounters:
At 1:23 p.m. Wednesday, police received several reports of a bear on the airport wetlands.
At 2:29 a.m. today, a caller reported seeing a bear walk through Gruening Park, headed toward Switzer Village. The bear was not causing any problems.
Other:
A 22-year-old man was arrested on two outstanding warrants from Ketchikan at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday on Nugget Drive. The warrants were for failure to appear on arraignments for original charges of a minor consuming. He was lodged at the state prison.
At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 32-year-old man was cited and released for driving with a suspended or revoked license on Glacier Highway at Renninger Street. The vehicle was impounded.
