Mendenhall post office employee Liza Lowry scans mail Monday at the customer service counter at the post office. Dec. 19 was the peak mailing day in the United States, with an estimated 900 million pieces of mail processed across the country. Customer lines were long at the Mendenhall post office with more than 30 people in line at times during the noon hour.
