How she helps: She started a monthly support group for family caregivers in Sitka, became a trained volunteer and served as president of the board.

Marilyn Durocher, executive director of Sitka's Faith in Action, says: "Jane has actively guided and facilitated SFIA's caregiver support group, establishment of a bereavement support group and consideration of pursuing Hospice certification. Jane is an articulate advocate and ambassador for Sitka's Faith in action. She sees the big picture through a cheerful, thoughtful, sensitive demeanor. She is wise, thorough, and generous with her time, talents and resource. ... Sitka's Faith in Action is blessed to have the capable leadership of Jane Demmert who has 'walked the walk' of both caregiver and care receiver roles for the organization she leads."
