Palmer street plan hits speed bump

Posted: Tuesday, December 22, 2009

PALMER - The effort to create one-way streets in downtown Palmer has taken a U-turn.

A 14-member advisory committee formed to assist the state Department of Transportation has voted to drop the plan. Many downtown business owners were against the idea, saying one-way streets would drive away customers by making downtown more difficult to navigate.

The committee expects to come up with new alternatives to present to the public and the Department of Transportation.
