Elizabeth Mary Campbell Gharrett, 87, died of natural causes Dec. 3, 2003, in Seattle.
Born in 1916 in Ilo, Idaho, she attended college. In 1940, she married John T. Gharrett. While raising their family they lived in Oregon, Alaska, Massachusetts and Virginia, and they later moved to Washington. John was the regional director for the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries. The family lived in Juneau just prior to and after statehood.
Her family and many friends knew her as an accomplished cook who loved to read, garden, do handcrafts, travel, and collect antique linens and glass. For remembrances, the family notes Beth supported charities for the visually impaired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Gharrett, and brother, Jack (Alice).
She is survived by her children, Tony (Jessica) of Juneau, Gretchen (Gary Chin) of Chicago, and Jennifer (Clifford Der) of Oakland; grandchildren, Nicolas, Evan and Kami; a niece; and several nephews and in-laws.
At her request, no service is planned.
