Juneau resident George Jim "Ka'hook" Brouillette died Nov. 5, 2002.
Brouillette was born in Juneau on Oct. 31, 1949, to Susan Ella Obert and Henry Max Brouillette. He was raised in Deishu all of his younger days. He was a fisherman, logger and heavy-equipment operator.
The family said he was known by many names fitting his personality: Gentleman George, Gorgeous George, and his Tlingit name Ka'hook, after his grandfather of the Tak-dein taan/Snail House. He was a Shun gu Keidi yutti, child of the Thunderbirds.
He was preceded in death by his mother Susan Ella Obert Brouillette, father Henry M. Brouillette, brother Hank Brouillette II, and sister Susan Ella Brouillette II.
He is survived by sisters Joanne Barsic of Ketchikan, Maxine Sue Brouillette of Aberdeen, Wash., and Della M. Brouillette of Deishu, Haines; mother of his children Barbara Brouillette; sons John (Mary Gregg) and Jacob Brouillette; daughters Deanna Renee and her daughter Autumn Marie, all of Chesapeake, Va.; and daughter Barbie (Carl) Gillham and their son Carl Jr., of Elma, Wash.
The honorary pallbearers were Henry Strong, Vincent Hotch, Larry Totland, Margaret Stevens, Lee Clayton, John Lewis, Mike Sheehan, Mike Elliot, Kenny Thompson, Clyde Bell, Raymond Shepard, Tom Belaski, Joseph Jacobs and many more.
