I have lived in Juneau over half my life and 17 years have been working at the Triangle Club. A lot of you know me.
For the first time in those years, I feel my job may be threatened because of Ms. Cahill's (JCAC), so-called "good deed," or speaking for us on "our behalf." Frankly, I have no idea who she is. She has never approached myself or other staff asking to speak for us. Can she guarantee our jobs or our livelihoods (which we choose)? Will she speak for us when the bill collectors are calling or we can't make house payments, make rent or buy goods, oil or food for our children?
Please, do not support this ban. It's just not about the smoking; our rights as citizens of Juneau, Alaska and of the United States of America are at risk. And as for you, Ms. Cahill, I believe there is a snowy owl or beached whale somewhere that may need you to speak for them on "their behalf."
