This photo, circa 1919, shows Ed Stanyar, an electrician who worked in power plants in Douglas, Thane, Salmon Creek and Mendenhall Glacier. He worked for the Treadwell mine during the 1917 cave-in, and he rewired buildings around town like the Alaskan Hotel and the Indian Hospital on Willoughby Avenue. Stanyar later went to work for the University of Washington in Seattle where he retired.
