Dillingham, students to perform 'Stories from the Wilderness'

JUNEAU - Children's book author and acclaimed storyteller Brett Dillingham and students from his family storytelling workshop will perform their stories at 3 p.m. Sunday at The Canvas. Pie in the Sky will open at 2:30 p.m. for the event so attendees can get their hot drinks and baked treats before the storytelling.

The students, who range in age from 6 to "over 60," wrote stories and rehearsed telling them using compelling sounds, expressions and movements. The stories were inspired by the theme "Our Stories from the Wilderness" and include stores of eagles, pikas, owls and kayaking. A real eagle and owl will be in the audience, perhaps taking questions.

Dillingham has performed and taught hundreds of storytelling workshops in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

"Our storytelling performance at The Canvas will be interesting and highly entertaining," Dillingham said, "a wonderful way to celebrate the stories within us, as well as Juneau's interesting and talented community."
