FAIRBANKS - Eight people have applied to fill the state Superior Court seat in Fairbanks being vacated by Judge Mary Greene, who will take a job with the University of Alaska's Office of General Counsel.
The Alaska Judicial Council will interview candidates in March and submit the names of finalists to Gov. Frank Murkowski, who will have 45 days to make an appointment.
Those who've applied for the seat are: Lori Bodwell, 36, a private-practice lawyer; David Burglin, 49, an assistant district attorney; John Franich, 50, a staff attorney with the Office of Public Advocacy; Patrick Hammers, 51, a magistrate; Jeffrey O'Bryant, 51, an assistant district attorney; Randy Olsen, 52, an assistant attorney general; Karla Taylor-Welch, 47, an assistant attorney general; and Christopher Zimmerman, 53, private-practice lawyer.
